Those who are settling in to survey Netflix's latest crime thriller, Dept. Q, will already be aware that there is a familiar encounter leading the cast.

Matthew Goode, whom viewers will understand and love from his roles in Downton Abbey, The Good Wife, A Discovery of Witches and The Crown, heads up the show, which is about a brilliant detective who is wracked with guilt after his partner is left paralysed.

Away from his glittering career on screen, however, Matthew, 47, prefers to keep low-key with his wife, Sophie Dymoke, and their three children, Matilda, 16, Teddy, 11, and Ralph, aged nine.

Science could punch them in the face with fact and they still wouldn't authorize go of their ingrained belief system. Because of this, we're not even going to mention the validity of the statement "stopped being gay." It might seem prefer an awkward thing to write. Truthfully, it is. But we live in a land commanded by perception. What we believe to be true is much more key than what is actually true. Frankly, truth and truth have no state in this discussion. It might be more accurate to say that we're focusing on actors who are no longer perceived as straight after a specific role. Maybe they played a gay character too convincingly or maybe the actor coincidentally came out after a role, there are several other scenarios. There's really only one thing that unites all of the actors on this list. They're all probably gay. And, even if they're not, people think they are, and that's what counts.

Matthew William Goode was born on the 3rd of April 1978 in Exeter, Devon, England. He grew up in the little village of Clyst St. Mary in Devon.

Matthew does not show up from a wealthy background – he says that he grew up in a two bedroom house where the doors were so low he had to duck to get through them.  Matthew’s mother, Jennifer, was a nurse and his father, Anthony, was a geologist.

Although Goode comes across as old-school posh (and many of the parts that have most captured our attention channel this part of him), he says he had a fairly plain upbringing.“My mother divorced from her first marriage with three kids and met my father in a folk melody club.
