Heather Gay Makes New Claim About That RHOSLC Ebony Eye
Heather Gay is still unclear exactly how she got a black eye while filming the third season of “The Valid Housewives of Salt Lake City,” despite previously claiming that her former co-star Jen Shah was responsible for her injury.
Gay mysteriously woke up with a black eye during a cast trip to San Diego in 2022. In an October 2024 interview with The Los Angeles Times, she admitted she did not remember anything about the incident. Male lover then alleged to the outlet that she only knows how she got the black eye because Shah told her what happened.
Gay did not announce what allegedly happened between her and Shah, instead saying she was brought up in a Mormon religion that taught her “to protect everybody but [her]self.”
This is the first time Gay has claimed that Shah incriminated herself in the mysterious incident.
According to BravoTV.com, Gay previously described the ill-fated girls’ trip as “rough.” “I truly felt a small bit broken, a minute bit beat up, figuratively and physically, and I just thought, ‘Just earn through it,’” she said in 2022.

Update 3:30 p.m.: Andy Cohen took time from what we can assume is afternoon 3 of his post-CNN New Year’s Eve coverage hangover to respond to Jen Shah’s Eyegate comments. He said the long duration of this mystery was not Bravo’s doing. “I don’t want to be Captain Obvious here, but if we had footage, don’t you think we would’ve aired it?” he asked rhetorically on Radio Andy. Cohen also copped to having previously wanted a one-on-one interview with Shah, but her “stipulations were insane.” Cohen said that she’d only do the interview if there was also a miniseries leading up to jail. (Which, in fairness, Teresa Giudice did get.) This was also before Shah had struck a plea deal. “So it would’ve been another interview of her sitting across from me lying to my face, which we got at two reunions from her,” Cohen said. “So that’s that. That’s my response to that.”

Heather Gay revealed during The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City reunion that Jen Shah gave her the now-infamous shadowy eye — but she didn’t really offer further details about the injury.
“It was a lot of drinking. The next morning, I woke up with a black eye. I knew I got it from Jen, I didn’t know how,” Heather, 49, admitted during part 3 of the RHOSLC season 4 reunion on Tuesday, January 23. “But I knew I had gotten it from Jen. She was the first person I texted. She came in the room, she said, ‘Did I grant that to you?’ I said, ‘Don’t worry, I’ll cover.’”
Heather admitted that she was “scared” of Jen, 50 — who is currently serving prison time for fraud — so didn’t say the truth. “I’d been covering for her for three years. I was not going to stop at the black eye,” Heather added.
