A new film about Black queer men falling in love? Yes, please!
A recent trailer has released for the indie film Love The One You’re With. Directed by Sampson McCormick (A Other Direction), Love The One You’re With follows Miles (played by Donnie Hue Frazier) and Avery (Anthony Bawn) as they try to right a rocky relationship in “a dating climate where ghosting, polyamory and everyone in seek of the next best thing are beyond the norm,” according to a press release.
Frazier and Bawn are also joined by Danny Royce, Jefferey L. Jones-Dickson Jr., Jessica Shaday, Hope Flood, and McCormick himself.
“Love the One You’re With… It’s a story about some of the situations that we get in when we aren’t honest in our relationships in dating,” Sampson McCormick told Fox’s Washington D.C. affiliate FOX5. “It’s a great story overall because we don’t see that many Black queer men represented in media in this capacity. And, it’s a story that everybody will be able to relate to.”
He later added, “I know what it’s like to have to exist with those things and I assume about all the people who desire to speak out but can, who don’t have platforms, or people who need clarity.

SUMMARY
Considering the quality, quantity, and diversity of films distributed under the Amazon Studios banners, GLAAD has given Amazon a FAIR grade.
Amazon continues to release high-profile film content onto its streaming platform Amazon Prime Video. Many of these contain LGBTQ leads, including GLAAD Media Award-winning teen drama Anything’s Possible, a GLAAD List script honoree starring a Black trans girl, and My Policeman, a GLAAD Media Award nominee that tells a decades-spanning gay love story. There are also several films tracked with supporting LGBTQ characters, such as The People We Hate at the Wedding and Something from Tiffany’s. However, there were still opportunities to flesh out LGBTQ characters into larger roles. United Artists Releasing’s two LGBTQ-inclusive films, Bones and All and Women Talking, both left something to be desired with their portrayals of a male lover man and transgender man respectively.
