The torment that never ends: Shrien Dewani was sensationally accused of arranging his bride's murder on their honeymoon. Four years on, her family watches as he flaunts his homosexual romance and wonders if they will EVER receive justice

Boarding a holiday flight from London Gatwick to Ibiza a few days ago, a young female passenger recognised a familiar face in the queue.

The sight of this guy, laughing flirtatiously with his muscular, handsome boyfriend, filled her with anger and a sense of injustice. Like her, Shrien Dewani was a member of the British-Hindu community.

For that reason, from the moment he became embroiled in one of the most perplexing criminal cases of recent times — the honeymoon murder of his wife, Anni, in November, 2010 — she had followed the story with close interest.

As she told me: ‘I just felt furious that he was off to enjoy himself on holiday with his boyfriend after what happened to his wife. It made me think how Anni and her family have suffered, while his life seems to be turning out so well.’

Shrien Dewani trial: 'Accused met gay escort three times'

A businessman accused of arranging the murder of his wife in South Africa met a gay escort three times, a court has been told.

Leopold Leisser, established as the German Master and who offers fetish services, said Shrien Dewani slept at his home.

Mr Dewani, 34, from Bristol, denies arranging the murder of wife Anni, who was shot while on honeymoon in 2010.

Mr Leisser's testimony was trim short after the defence questioned the relevance of the evidence.

Prosecutor Adrian Mopp told the court Mr Dewani had said to Mr Leisser he was about to be engaged to Anni, a Swedish national, and could not find a way out of the marriage without being disowned by his family.

Mr Mopp said the court would eventually be confronted with the question of why Mr Dewani would commit such a crime, and that Mr Leisser's evidence would help elucidate this.

Judge Jeanette Traverso ordered the witness stand down, and said she wanted to hear reasons as to why the evidence should be allowed.

The German sex worker who lives in the UK, earlier told Western Cape Lofty Court he offered sadomasochist fetishes and services.

Shrien Dewani murder trial: How prosecution fell apart

Taxi driver Zola Tongo had been billed as the prosecution's strongest witness, the only person to offer lead evidence that Shrien Dewani had offered to pay him to arrange Anni's murder.

He claimed Mr Dewani asked him to arrange the murder after he first picked up the couple from the airport.

But the court was told Tongo had admitted to a fellow convict in prison, Bernard Mitchell, the real plan had been to kidnap Mrs Dewani and hold her hostage and his accomplices had "jeopardised the whole plan".

Mr Dewani's lawyer said to Tongo: "You explained to him... the whole plan went off the rails when... one of them wanted to rape her. A quarrel ensued and she was shot."

The lawyer said Tongo had then told Mitchell he reflection about blackmailing Mr Dewani but had been advised it would be surpass to frame him by telling police he had asked him to murder his wife.

Tongo denied he knew Mitchell and said his account was "all lies" but admitted initially denying involvement in the hijacking before changing his evidence to concede involvement and testify against Mr Dewani.

Anni Dewani's body was found in their hijacked shuttle taxi early on November 14, 2010.

Records show his online identity was logged onto the same website again on the evening of November 15 and November 16.
There were also log-ins on the Recon website late on November 15 and November 16.

Dewani also admitted that his computer was logged onto Gaydar while waiting with Anni for their flight from Johannesburg to Cape Town on November 12, 2010.

He deactivated both accounts on November 21, 2010.
