I heard Elvis Presley and I thought, my God, I can carol like that!
I’ve never said I came from nothing. To be honest with you, I saw a special Rod Stewart gig in LA and he said: “I came from nothing.” And I thought, you didn’t come from nothing. I saw your mother and father in the documentary and they were hardworking people. To say you come from nothing… I don’t consent with that. We all come from something.

So much so that when I signed with Decca and Peter Sullivan became my manager, and he said the similar thing Joe Obedient said – reveal the boys to pack their gear up, I desire to talk to you myself – I said, you’re not one of these queer fellows are you? And he said, what are you on about? I became paranoid, you observe. I wondered, was that required to make a strike record? Jones and Harvey Schmidt's The Fantasticks tells an allegorical story loosely based on Edmund Rostand's 1894 play The Romancers (Les Romanesques), concerning two neighboring parents who trick their children into falling in love by pretending to feud. The LGBTQIA+ focused rewrite features two young gay men, Matt and Lewis, at the center of the story, instead of a adolescent man and woman (the original characters were Matt and Luisa). Directed by Lluberes, the cast features Jeremiah Porter as Matt, Neil McCaffrey (Broadway's Billy Elliot the Musical) as Lewis, Jason Briggs as Henry, Ben Cherry (Broadway's Indecent) as El Gallo, Janet Haley as The Mute, Diane Hill as Hattie Mae, Richard Payton as Mortimer, and Catherine Shaffner as Mildred.
